💚 Are you dreaming of a green wedding? 💚

At Ashridge we really care about the environment and as a wedding venue we are committed to hosting sustainable events, minimizing environmental impact through practices like using renewable energy, sourcing local/organic food, managing waste (composting and zero to landfill), reducing single-use plastics, and preserving the landscape and local wildlife.

We provide beautiful, nature-focused settings for couples wanting an eco-conscious celebration. We can achieve this by implementing systemic changes in our operations and partnering with reliable and sustainable vendors, proving that authentic and eco-friendliness can coexist.

We’re More Than a Sustainable Venue — We’re a Promise to the Planet

When couples choose us as their wedding venue, they’re not just booking a beautiful space. They’re confirming that love can be celebrated without compromising the planet.

As a sustainable wedding venue, every detail of what we do is rooted in intention. We are doing what we can to protect the planet and we believe your wedding can be breathtaking and environmentally responsible.

Our Setting: Natural Beauty, Naturally Protected

We’re nestled in a landscape that doesn’t need heavy decor to shine. Open skies, native trees, and thoughtfully restored grounds create a backdrop that feels authentic — because it is.

Unlike some venues that rely on excessive installations or synthetic enhancements, we’ve invested in preserving biodiversity. We plant native species, protect pollinator habitats, and avoid harmful pesticides. When you walk down the aisle here, you’re surrounded by a living ecosystem we actively nurture year-round.

Because sustainability isn’t a wedding trend for us — it’s part of our operating philosophy.

Sustainable and Thoughtful Waste Management

Behind the scenes, our team runs a comprehensive recycling and composting program. Clear signage makes it easy for guests to participate — and they love knowing their celebration is part of something bigger.

Our aim is to make all our own events as close to zero waste as possible and direct as many waste flows as possible to recycling or upcycling schemes. We provide recycling and rubbish facilities at all weddings and events for both attendees and suppliers (and are continuously looking for ways to improve the signage of these to get people to actually use them correctly!). We work with all our suppliers to reduce, reuse and recycle.

Recently we began working with The Sustainable Wedding Alliance for Sustainable Accreditation so we have started to measure our waste output and will continuously look for ways to reduce it. Sustainability is not a fixed achievement; it’s an evolving commitment.

Supporting Sustainable and Conscious Choices

We gently guide couples through sustainable decisions without pressure.

Prefer vintage rentals over disposables? We’ve got trusted partners and we also have a lot of this covered with our own huge prop collection full of items that are regularly used at weddings.

We have signs that can be reused, meaning that you don’t have to buy in new ones.

Our hedgerows are full of natural decor which comes in useful for weddings and events, which we can then compost when it is finished with. We grow pots of flowers that get reused for weddings, lining the aisle or enhancing the grounds.

We’re here to support your values, not dictate them.

Please take a look at our Sustainability and Environmental Policies for more information.
